AEW is scheduled to air a new reality series on TBS in the near future, which is expected to follow AEW talent and document their lives along the way.
Although fans took this as a positive sign that Discovery is willing to continue wrestling after its merger with WarnerMedia, Dave Meltzer noted on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that the show was actually greenlit before the merger.
A second season of “Rhodes to the Top,” which focused on the lives of Cody and Brandi Rhodes, was greenlit before they left the promotion earlier this year.
“It’s good news. I think some people are trying to make it a better story than it really is, in the sense that they’re thinking about adding another show, so Discovery is fine with this when in reality all of this was greenlit long before discovery most likely just filling in for the Rhodes to the Top time slot which was already greenlit so it’s basically a replacement for another wrestling show instead of adding new content. I know they were working on other things…different shows in development. So they might be adding more stuff, which could be a good sign, but that’s the basic gist. It’s probably several months away.”
