But he should bowl more outside of breaks. Ashwin is India’s second tallest wicket-taker in Tests. He has taken 442 test wickets so far. Ashwin is constantly experimenting with bowling him.
Excessive use of carom balls
Ashwin often throws more carom balls than the traditional break. Rajasthan lost to Gujarat Titans by seven wickets in the final. Speaking afterwards, Sangakkara said: “Ashwin has done a great job for us. What Ashwin has won on the cricket pitch makes him a legend. Still, there is room for improvement. He should bowl more off-spin.” Ashwin has taken 12 wickets in 17 games this season.
How many runs did Ashwin score in the final?
In the final, R Ashwin threw more carom balls than counterattacks. He scored 32 runs from 3 overs in the final. But he did not take a single wicket. Rajasthan were able to score only 130 runs in the allotted 20 overs. That goal was not enough to win.
Ashwin doesn’t believe in the negative effect?
“The goal of 130 was not enough. We also considered bowling. When we got to the field, the pitch was dry. We thought the bowling would slow down, which would give our spin bowlers a turn. We were expecting 160 to 165 runs.” Sangakkara said.
