WWE unified that WWE Title and Universal Title at WrestleMania 38 last month when Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a match-winner.
This has left Raw and SmackDown with a single champion, as Reigns has appeared on both shows as the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion. This is the plan to follow, although many hope that WWE will have two world champions again eventually.
While speaking with WrestleRant, Drew McIntyre said that he prefers there to be two world champions since the rosters are separate.
“I mean just for the roster it has split up. I think every show should have its own champion. I know, let’s say like 20 years ago, whatever, it was the same champion traveling to the shows. But it was also the same list. Right now, it’s because of what happened at WrestleMania. I know that the Mania bell was for this gigantic match with Roman vs. Brock. It was two champions facing each other… the two main champions facing each other. Two people with such an incredible history really ignited to another level personality-wise with Roman as his Tribal Chief character and cowboy Brock, which we’ve never seen before, so it was a great combination, great implications. This is the aftermath of that great match with both titles and it’s great right now. It puts it even higher than it was before, if that’s possible. He’s literally on Thanos levels right now. I think it’s about time someone at least took one of those titles away from him and I’m looking at Drew McIntyre.”
As previously reported, WWE is saving the big title match between Reigns and McIntyre for one of the upcoming stadium shows.
