Former WWE Raw Tag Team Champions returning to the ring for the first time since 2020

A former WWE team has plans to return to the ring this year.

according to a fighting team Report, Akam (real name Sunny Dhinsa) and Rezar (real name Gzim Selmani) have plans to fight again. Akam and Rezar were collectively known as the Authors of Pain in WWE.

The report indicates that the team has contacted the fighters about an event they are planning in Dubai this June. In addition to handling the show’s promotion, they also plan on wrestling, but it’s unclear how much they plan on wrestling after that show.

The last time they wrestled on television was on the 9/3/20 episode of Monday Night Raw. There were big plans in place for them as they were aligned with Seth Rollins before Rezar suffered an injury. At the time, there were reports that Raw CEO Paul Heyman wanted to push them as the modern-day Road Warriors.

Dave Meltzer reported: “When Paul Heyman was there, Paul Heyman wanted to make them his Road Warriors and Levesque did too because he even brought Ellering for them and they were a total Road Warrior rip-off. It’s interesting that those two wanted to turn them into Road Warriors and then Vince just decided whatever…”

Paul Ellering later stated in an interview that there were plans for him to return with AOP, but the plans were put on hold due to Rezar’s injury.

Akam and Rezar were hyped as a top act when they were in NXT. They are former NXT Tag Team Champions and winners of the 2016 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. After moving up to the main roster, they won the Raw Tag Team Championship.
