For weeks MJF has been putting obstacles in Wardlow’s way because Wardlow is bound by MJF’s contract. In the storyline, Wardlow is out of contract with AEW and has had to accept the opponents that come his way in order to compete on television.
Last week, MJF promised to bring in someone taller than Wardlow and said “you can’t teach that” which was a huge hint to fans that he was talking about Impact Wrestling’s W. Morrisey aka the former star of the WWE Big Cass.
As promised, William Morrisey made his Dynamite debut tonight against Wardlow. Morrissey was pinned after taking a powerbomb, following a moonsault from the top rope by Wardlow. Morrissey still works for Impact Wrestling, so this may be a one-off appearance for now.
After the match, Wardlow attacked dozens of security guards for trying to handcuff him and received a major outburst. MJF has agreed to fight Wardlow on a couple of terms that will be revealed at a contact signing on next week’s AEW Dynamite in Long Island, NY.
