On this week’s “Monday Mailbag,” Mike Chioda was requested how he turned a part of AEW to referee the Adam Cole vs. Samoa Joe match at Double or Nothing.
“Let me inform you how that each one came together. I used to be on a cruise with my spouse. We had been sitting there on the second day of the cruise and I obtained a name from Dean Malenko,” Chioda mentioned.
“He mentioned, ‘We came up with plan. All of them appreciated it. We need to carry you in as a particular visitor referee for the Owen Hart event match. He mentioned, ‘Do you know Owen?’ I mentioned, ‘Sure, I knew him very properly.’”
“I despatched him some photographs with the one from Israel with 1-2-3 Child and Tonka in Israel and a pair extra photographs. So he wished me to be the referee and I used to be like, ‘Oh man, that will be nice.’ He mentioned: ‘We want you to return and do the match and perhaps the opposite match of the event,’ however there’s a large distinction in that. They did not need anybody like me to be six ft tall.”
