It looks like another former WWE star could be heading to AEW soon and that may explain why he refused to sign a new contract.
It was pointed out this week wrestling spotter Newsletter that the belief among the NXT crowd is that the former Malcolm Bivens (Stokely Hathaway) didn’t sign a new contract with WWE because he’s going to AEW.
That hasn’t been confirmed by anyone, but that’s what people at the company think and that could explain why he initially refused to sign a new contract last year. He was convinced to sign an extension last year, but refused to sign a deal last February. His contract would have expired next year.
Bivens recently addressed some rumors during his performance and said that the rumors about him being offered a contract in February are true and he refused to re-sign but was never offered to manage Omos. He said that he was talked about moving to the main roster, but that he didn’t want to stay with the company because he wasn’t happy and talks to the head writer of Stand & Deliver about his unhappiness.
As for Dakota Kai and others who have recently been released, there’s no telling what they might do next in wrestling, but it has to be assumed that AEW would be interested in Kai.
